I recently came across the following passage while reading
the classic book by historian Daniel Boorstin titled “The
Image”:
“Is there any advance in transportation...
that has not erased the differences between transportation
and communication? Every day seeing there and hearing there
takes the place of being there".
When Daniel Boorstin wrote the above statement, he had
in mind supersonic jets and around-the-clock news coverage.
With the advent of the Internet, however, his observation
takes on even stronger meaning. And I think this actually
underlines
the difference in value between information and meaningful
information. Whether information is transported via a high-speed
rail or high-speed Internet, the message is lost if it is
not delivered with meaningfulness and clarity; it is deleted
before it is even processed (like so much spam).
One of technology's foremost goals has always been to improve
the means by which people communicate. So much of technology
today relies on the transportation of information that terms
such as "Information Technology" and "Information
Highway" have become part of our vernacular. We rely
on heavy doses of information to get us through the day,
while at the same time we are constantly challenged to screen
out the tremendous excess of meaningless information, or
“noise”, that technology delivers. We rely on
technology to send, transmit, and receive the message; but
technology cannot always be relied upon to create meaning.
As a company and as designers, it is our goal to create,
transport, and deliver your message clearly and meaningfully
to the people you need to communicate with. We specialize
in providing each client with a unique and personal approach
to Web design that communicates their identity in ways that
strengthens both their online and offline presence. And
by embracing new media, we provide our clients with a progressive
approach to design that serves their interests long after
launch.
We welcome you to call or email
us to inquire as to how Transfuture can help elevate
the economy of your organization or business.
Best regards,
